So one area that food always seems to accumulate is between your slide in range and your cabinets. To give room for adjusting your oven, there is usually a small gap left after your slide in range has been situated. In my case it is almost a quarter inch on each side. And while this does not seem like a lot, food always seems to get down in there.

If you live in a cold climate, its not as huge a deal, but here in warm climates, it can become a breeding ground for bugs, especially roaches. It is something that drives my wife nuts. Yes you can pull out your stove and clean but my induction range is heavy. The 3 Samoan guys that installed it even complained how heavy it was compared to other ranges.

And besides, we all know the best solution is prevention. So if we can stop food from falling in those cracks, then we don’t have to pull out the stove and clean as often. I also have to worry less about roaches finding a ready food source if I am not pulling out the range every night after I cook.

Not all ranges have lips

I have noticed that some range models include a lip that overlaps the top of the countertop and makes everything flush. In particular I noticed Samsung models had those. But my Kitchen Aid brand does not have that lip. it is more flush so my wife asked me to find a solutions.

Silicon covers for your stove

Searching out the solution was easy. I found these simple silicon covers that go over your stove and countertops that cover that gap. They measure 2 1/4 inches wide and 21 inches long. They seem to fit the actual cook top depth perfectly. They are very flexible and lay pretty flat against the stove.

Because they are flexible they wash off easily in the sink if you are like me and make a mess. Mine are a semi clear white that matches my white quartz countertops well but they also have them in black, stainless steel and pure white if you need to match things better.
